My Lived Experience
Becoming a teenage mother was a turning point in my life. Dropping out of school brought trauma, sleepless nights, and deep isolation, but it also ignited my resolve to change my future. My determination drew support, and I received scholarships that allowed me to complete Teacher College.
As an educator, I worked closely with children diagnosed with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, anxiety, and depression. Parents often shared their emotional struggles, which deepened my desire to expand my ability to help. That passion led me to pursue a career in nursing after migrating to the U.S., where I restarted my academic journey and earned a BSN from Chamberlain University, an MSN from Walden University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Herzing University.
I began my clinical career during the height of the pandemic at a Level 1 Trauma hospital in New Jersey. Eventually, I transitioned into psychiatric practice, where I now work with greater autonomy to care for the whole person. I value treatment flexibility, respecting individual preferences—whether medication, integrative care, or short-term therapies—because mental health support should be personalized, holistic, and collaborative.
My journey into mental health care began not in a classroom but through personal experience. Becoming a teenage mother thrust me into adulthood, bringing with it trauma, isolation, and overwhelming uncertainty. Dropping out of school was one of the lowest points of my life, yet it also ignited a fierce determination to reclaim my future. With perseverance and the help of scholarships, I returned to education, completed teacher training, and began working with children navigating autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, anxiety, and depression.
These early roles were transformative. In working closely with children and their families, I discovered that my true passion extended beyond the classroom. This realization led me to pursue a career in nursing and specialize in psychiatric care. Today, as a mental health provider, I draw on both my personal experience and professional training to inform my practice.
I know what it feels like to be in pain, to feel lost, and to find the strength to ask for help. That empathy shapes how I approach everyone’s care. Whether through therapy, medication management, or holistic support, my goal is to provide personalized, compassionate care that respects each person’s unique story.
Mental health care is not just my profession; it’s my purpose. I believe in the power of healing, and I’m here to walk beside you on your journey toward wellness. Whatever you’re facing, your experience matters, and recovery is possible.
